The COVID-19 pandemic involved humanity in its entirety. Like any macro-event, it has affected each of us differently: who fell ill, who lost a loved one, who their jobs, who put themselves on the front line. Everyone felt it differently. Reflecting the global dimension as well as the prismatic nature of this event is the main aim of this museum.
The emergency from COVID-19 that hit the world is perhaps the first moment in history in which nobody can call himself a spectator.
However, it's difficult, as humans, to clearly judge a global event based only on our individual perspective.
It's equally difficult to distinguish in our mind between what actually happened and our memory about it.
Critically pproaching this historical moment is a difficult task, but opens up entirely new scenarios.
We want to collect as many different testimonies as possible to transmit the autenticity of this moment to the future, but without falling for them. How?
A Virtual Museum may be able to give clarity, to state and protect what was real, to preserve our memories and the same time help processing them without forgetting the history.
This museum houses diverse witnesses, different perspectives, various individual experiences. It's an open and inclusive project for gaining actual wisdom for ourselves in the future. Narrating a collective story from individual memories it's like a chorus. And like a chorus of voices we want to transmit an inclusive, choral memory of the most important collective experience we have ever lived.
The collective dimension is the real essence of this period and this museum. Quarantine, fear, the need to deal with a new normal have involved everyone, firsthand. And we are all called to witness it for the next generations.
If you want, collaborate and submit memories to be displayed.
History is made by the ones who lived it. Let's tell it this way too.
Starting from the first months of the 2020, the COVID-19 emergency wave has enlarged worldwide, overwhelming the global population.
More strongly or weakly, the pandemic hasn't spared any country around the world, threatening it still today.
This is a virtual museum of memory dedicated to this historical period and its peculiarity. It is formed by normal people and their memories, by everyone who feels the needs to communicate about this moment and to donate to an image, to a painful situation or a sweet gesture the possibility to be remembered forever after.
Various stories wait to be discovered! Create your own path, each room is dedicated to a feeling of theme...
Each one of us has a different experience and a story to tell in building our collective memory. Look past your own nose! Different perspectives, different lives, things you would'nt imagine to happen.
Don't just stare! You also have a story, and if you feel like sharing it with us, send it! We will be glad to know it and share it here.
Everyone lived this period in a different way, but we have all shared a seesaw of feelings. For this reason, every room of the museum is dedicated to a particular emotion, reflecting how each experience was carved in people's hearts. Choose one, start your path.
Each story is a memory and represents a different perspective among all the people living a situation that never happened before on this scale and in this modality.
Feelings and emotions related to the stories were classifiable in wider groups, showing how different experiences could have had a similar sentimental outcome.
In the gap between institutional narrative and individual memory we privileged the second, however portaited in its intimate dimension and belonging to a larger whole.
